Joyce Webb and Deborah Ferguson Are the founders of DJMJ, Here is how it all started. Joyce and Deborah have been involved in drama since there own boys were in drama at the age of 8 years old (they are now 22) . It all started when they were on holiday One weekend with family and friends, it was mentioned that they would like to run a company on there own as it was becoming very expensive to attend larger groups. Joyce deals with all the costumes for the show she arranges the hire and alteration of all costumes and selects costumes suitable for the shows. She also deals with the photo shoot and photos. At the theatre you will find Joyce surrounded by children for microphones. Deborah deals with all the correspondence which go out through rehearsal to the children. At the theatre she stage manages all the shows at the theatre, dealing with the children coming on and off the stage in time and making sure all lights and sound are on at the rights times. Darren Tough is our company choreographer and trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts. He has enjoyed some great successes in his career as a performer already, and is enjoying his work as a choreographer and director too. Darren has appeared in ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ (the film) ‘Ça Ira’ (Roger Walter’s concept album), won the best actor award at the Kent film festival for his leading role in ‘Goodbye to Yesterday’, Harry Potter: ‘The Philosopher’s Stone & Prisoner of Azkaban’, Phil D’armano in ‘The Wild Party’, Zeke in ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’, Dick in ‘Dick Whittington’, a selected vocalist in the ‘Royal Masonic Gala Drury Lane’, a Featured dancer at the ‘ISTD Centennial Anniversary’, backing dancer for Will Young and Gareth Gates UK tour, Sky one’s ‘Brainiac’ and various variety shows in the west end and around the country. Robert Ferguson our Director has been with us since we started. He started drama at the age of 8 and has performed in a number of productions such as Oliver at The Drury Lane Theatre and Fame at The London Palladium. He has performed on a number of occasions at the Broadway theatre. He recently played Fagin in Oliver. He made the big screen last year in Trauma starring Colin Firth. As well as directing, Robert plays and teaches guitar in our band and arranges music for all our shows. He also does the lighting plan and all the technical side at the theatre. He does all this in his spare time as he starts work as a teacher in September. Jack Lovell our Pianist has done a number of shows with us and is at all our rehearsals, he help all the children with they songs. OTHER STAFF We have a number of other staff who help out at the theatre especially our own families such as Mick Webb who makes all our props, Steven Ferguson and Katie Stevens who often helps with the lighting and sound and Ben Webb who is often helping back stage. All our staff hold a chaperone license and are CRB checked. |
